New Year, Same Projects …

Happy January, everybody! I hope all of your new year plans are off to a great start. I for one, feel like this January has been less about new beginnings and fresh resolutions and more about just finishing up the things I couldn't complete in 2024. Right now I have three projects on the table that I really feel like I need to finish before I start anything new. I have the Sellwood Chapel that I'm nearly done with and can't wait to share the finish piece.

I have the jack-a-lope faux taxidermy, taking an open-eyed nap in the basement, waiting patiently for his turn. He's about 1/2 way done.

And this sketchbook. I have just six more blank pages to fill and I will do a sketchbook tour.

I am a little worried though. Having a full time job on the side doesn't leave a lot of time to dedicate to creating, unless I start burning the midnight oil, which requires energy I do not possess, but I'm going to have to if I want anything to add to my shop come spring. You have to MAKE TIME for the things that are important, right? Time to shift focus and way of thinking if I want things to change.

And speaking of shifting focus … It's pretty clear I’m not consistent at updating this website or keeping up with a blog. I had one post for 2024, lol! But with social media being the absolute shit show that it is, the threat of TikTok being banned, and just being detrimental for most artist's well being by making us whore ourselves out for a few measly little likes and follows, I will be shifting my focus more here, and making this space a better reflection of me, my art, and what I offer as a human being, as well as a safe and supportive space for others. I’ll save the social media for funny cat videos and gently cyber-stalking celebrities.

I know 2025 is off to a rocky start for some, but to be fair, it is stumbling out of the dumpster-fire that was 2024. If I’m being honest and maybe a little foolishly hopeful, I have a good feeling about 2025. Just giver her a chance, she just got here.
